Hi eka Circle,

Tonight I am thinking about hair again. So much more than a protein- each tiny strand a crystal chronicle of memory. Emotional, hormonal and nutritional. Most people are carrying years and years of imprint of every sickness, trauma and setback. Hair is the dna record keeper at its finest.

Could it be so special as it connects our crown chakra to higher realms. it is in fact an antennae. You can read about how the fallen watcher angels that fell chose the women for their lovely long locks (were they attracted to their generational bitterness and tuning into it?) and is this where the head coverings traditions birthed from- long before religion.

The original hebrew roving tabernacle tent was spun from woven goats hair, esau the first born twin was mentioned as being hairy his brother jacob wasn't. The nazarite vow was to grow long locks of hair as a sign of being holy. Many cultures anoint the head with expensive oils for ritual. What are they aware of that our culture may have forgotten? Hair is adorned, revered,in some cultures seen as a right of passage, hair is an expression of self and one's individuality. We are judged for it by society our hair is said to scream morality, sexual orientation, political persuasion, our choice of religion and our socio economic status. For some it is even magic. Hair is considered sensual, we cry when we lose it in illness or a change of season. What is it about hair that we are so attached to? Hair listens and hair speaks- albeit silently.

We can learn so much from different cultures with regard to 'hairy tails" it gave Sampson strength. Many polynesian and asian cultures never ever cut it for the women. Ancient jews were instructed to not even trim their beards. In the concentration camps the hair was shaved and taken on purpose intentionally to humiliate and control prisoners activities. We see this happen in prisons and defence forces all around the world. In ancient cultures it was kings, queens and warriors that had very long hair. Think egyptian mummies, gauls, vikings, celts, sumos, spartans and Indians. Hair was considered a symbol of wealth and power.

In hinduism the first hair cut is a huge symbolic cleansing ritual that is celebrated as an act of purity. For orthodox jews a child does not have a haircut until age 3 due to a torah verse about not harvesting a tree for the first 3 years. And yes we are all trees when we speak about our nervous systems! Muslim babies get the clippers to the head in many cultures 7 days after being born. There are many many more ceremonies of hair culturally when you start digging, it is fascinating.

In native american culture long hair a symbol of maturity and only cut when one is mourning. The Apache tribe however take a different approach and cut the hair each spring- it is seen as encouraging health and success and accompanied with a celebration. Back to the tree analogy? Maybe?

Even in western culture it is not uncommon to chop ones locks off after a breakup or giving birth. We keep a lock of our babies first haircut in a baby book. We track down a criminal using their hair. In maori culture the true traditionalists know never to allow anyone their hair. For them a closely cropped hairstyle was a sign the wearer is in mourning and for many a sign their mana was destroyed. The culture is known for burying any cut hair and nail clippings to avoid someone using them in makutu (spells).

Regardless of culture there are common thread within humanity in that we are all rather attached to our hair. An interesting thing I found is that long hair actually affects your brain! The longer the hair the more vitamin d, phosphorus and calcium is collected by the body. This alters memory state and allows it to be stronger and more efficient. How fascinating!

So what are some of the best natural treatments for hair and the crown? Hair loss is on the rise and the links to emotional toll can not be overlooked. There are different reasons for hair loss or thinning. Stress, auto immunity, fungal conditions. genetics, hormone imbalances and nutritional deficiencies.

Try these natural treatments:

  • coconut oil

  • fish oil supplements

  • ginseng

  • onion juice

  • rosemary oil

  • aloe vera

  • caster oil

  • massage

  • infrared light therapy

What is it about hair? Not just a statement...hair is silica (crystal) a memory keeper...we can learn so much about it. No wonder it is connected to the crown chakra. Oh the wisdom of the Divine! "The grey head a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness. He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that rules his spirit than he who rules a city." proverbs 16:31-32

Yes hair links to emotional memory. Ritual, trauma, sickness, new beginnings. Your hair is your antenna for the Spirit. Use it to be free not bound.
